An Unveiling Legacy...

Chapter History

In 2007, the presence of a growing Latino population was becoming more apparent at Kennesaw State University. However, there was an absence of an organization that catered to the building of Latinos, even more, so that of Latina Women on campus. A motivated young lady embarked on a mission to find a way to improve the Latino presence on the campus. In the Fall of 2007, Lila Parra along with a group of ladies sought to bring a new organization to campus. By December of 2007, an interest group was formed with Lila Parra, Nara Silva, Karen Garcia, and Samantha Pinzon being held together under the same dream of establishing a chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. at Kennesaw State University. In Spring 2008, Naretsi Rosas, Jessica Colotl, and Yudith Bautista, added to the dream that had initiated just a couple months before. Shortly after, Sharon Suazo and Laura Rivera-Rozo joined the group. With hard work and persistence,  this group of ladies became officially recognized as a student organization at Kennesaw State University as “The Interested Ladies de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated” during Fall 2008. This powerful group of Latina women had a dream in mind and sought to make it a reality- To found a chapter that would be a role model for their campus community. Along with this achievement in the year of 2008, the KSU Greek Life expanded by adding the first Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) in which The Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated contributed to its establishment along with Lambda Theta Phi.

On April 12th, 2009, nine lovely ladies paved the way for a wonderful  sisterhood by founding "The Shimmering Silhouettes" of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin, Inc.
Lila Parra, Yudith Bautista, Sharon Suazo, Naretsi Rosas, Jessica Colotl, Nara Silva, Karen Garcia, Laura Rivera-Rozo and Samantha Pinzon became the nine founding sisters to establish a legacy of sisterhood based on Unity, Love, and Respect at Kennesaw State University. This Spring 2009 Founding Line, also known as “The Triple Triad”, opened  the doors for Latinas and women of all ethnicities on campus.

Trust in Me

Nara Silva
Epsilon Alpha Founding Sister #6

Trust in me my sister, and do not be afraid
to sail free through the sea of burgundy and grey.
Let it cradle around you as you flow into the night, under the watch of the crescent moon light.
Let go of the oar and let the wind take control for wherever you are, I promise I'll go.

And when you lie down and stare up at the stars remember they're there to comfort your heart.

So when you arrive where you're destined to be, keep in mind that you got there because you believed.
